The WEATHERFORD self supporting TorkWrench™ Positioning Device – PowerArm® 2.1 is designed to move an attached TorkWrench® 10-100 Iron Roughneck from its parking position to the well center and back. Especially when space is at a premium or when floor rails are undesirable. For this purpose, the arm of the PowerArm extends and retracts without altering the height of the attached TorkWrench®. During the makeup or breakout process of the TorkWrench®, the PowerArm® guides the tong and fulfills the horizontal and vertical moveability of the attached TorkWrench®. Furthermore it allows rotations of nearly 360°.
All functions are driven by the pneumatically controlled valve sections of the TorkWrench® for remote controlled operation. The PowerArm® 2.1 is fastened to the rig floor and thus provides a secure and convenient manner to move the attached TorkWrench®.
