Protekto-Coat® 799 is a vegetable oil base internal and external pipe coating formulated to protect the
ID and OD of tubulars from the harmful affects of corrosion during storage. Protekto-Coat® 799 is
recommended as an easy to apply, environmentally friendly ID and OD coating for short term storage by
rental tool companies and used pipe dealers. It will not flow and build up on the lower or bottom portion of the pipe if properly applied following application instructions. Protekto-Coat® 799 also provides high resistance to corrosion. Protekto-Coat® 799 is easy and economical to use. Protekto-Coat®
799 contains biodegradable oil, inhibitors, and a petroleum solvent. After application, the solvent
evaporates, leaving an environmentally friendly protective coating to the metal surface.
Protekto-Coat® 799 is easy and economical to use in most dip tank applications. It may also be applied with air or airless spray methods. After applying Protekto-Coat® 799, remove excess coating by blowing out the pipe with air and placing the pipe at an angle to allow coating to run out the end before installation of thread protectors. If coating is not completely drained, gumming will occur on the lower side of the pipe.Use Protekto-Coat® 799 on macaroni tubing, casing, line pipe, drill pipe, drill collars, small tools, or equipment.
