Mubadala Energy announced a gas discovery from the Layaran-1 Exploration well, drilled in South Andaman, about 100 km offshore North Sumatra, Indonesia. This is the first deepwater well operated by the company, drilled to a depth of 4,208 m in 1,207 m water depth.The well encountered an extensive gas column with a thickness of over 230 m in an Oligocene sandstone reservoir. A complete data acquisition, which included wireline, coring, sampling and production test (DST) was conducted. PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) has announced consecutive oil and gas discoveries offshore Malaysia.CEO Montri Rawanchaikul disclosed that its subsidiaries, PTTEP HK Offshore and PTTEP Sarawak Oil, have made new oil and gas discoveries in three fields offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, including the Chenda-1 exploration well in block SK405B as well as Bangsawan-1 and Babadon-1 exploration wells in block SK438. Preparatory works for the Shell-operated Selene and Pensacola wells in UK southern North Sea are progressing towards being drilled in 2024 according to an update from Deltic Energy, one of Shell’s partners on the wells.The first of the two wells to be drilled is an exploration well on the Selene gas prospect on License P2437. Solstad Offshore has announced contract awards in Australia for two of its vessels.CSV Normand Australis has been contracted by a subsea contractor for a minimum of 150 days firm, with options to extend thereafter. The contract will commence during Q4 2023.Additionally, the large AHTS Normand Sirius has been contracted by an international energy company for a minimum period of 160 days to support a drilling campaign offshore Western Australia. Custos Energy has announced that the Mopane 2X exploration well located on blocks governed by Petroleum Exploration License 83 (PEL 83) in the heart of Namibia’s Orange Basin has been spud. The Mopane prospect complex is located at the southern end of PEL 83, which is operated by a subsidiary of Galp Energia of Portugal.The Mopane exploration well is the first of two wells that are scheduled to be drilled by the semi-submersible rig Hercules under a contract that provides for two wells and optional testing. KCA Deutag has been awarded a contract to conduct a major project to electrify Equinor’s jackup rig, Askepott, in Norway. The electrification project, delivered by KCA Deutag’s Kenera business unit, will make the Askepott rig the first in Equinor’s portfolio to be powered from onshore when it is completed in Q4 2024.Askepott will receive power from high voltage cabling via the Martin Linge A platform, which is already supplied with power from the shore and is located 42 km west of the Oseberg Field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).The electrification of the Askepott rig in the field will enable
